Comments: (from ablazeforheyes.blogspot.com): Heyes looks very gentle and compassionate in the scene where Clara tells the men about her daughter...and he reacts to her telling them that her daughter took her own life. It's hard for me to project Pete Duel on Heyes, and I believe I see some shadow of personal melancholy in his eyes, more than just acting. I think Peter was a better actor than to bring out his own pain to his portrayal of Heyes, so I'm probably seeing something that isn't really there. At least until the last couple of episodes, I think Peter managed to keep most of his pain hidden.
My Comment: I agree with this comment. During the first season and a few episodes of season 2 up until "The Man Who Broke the Bank At Red Gap", he was able to keep his personal pain hidden. The things I noticed about Pete through the entire 2nd season episode, "The Man Who Broke the Bank At Red Gap that he has an eerie look in his eyes. It gives you the feeling like he may be getting tired of the series due to cramming five episodes from 12/01/1971 - 12/24/1971. Heyes seemed to be more angry in that episode as well. I also noticed that the darker side of Peter was coming out in that episode, he has a very chilling look in his eyes and didn't look like he did in the first season. Despite his personal pain and anger coming through his character, he still did an excellent job in playing his most famous character. "The Man Who Broke the Bank At Red Gap" was a very good episode but you can really see a darker side of Pete/Heyes through-out the entire episode.
